"The venues are so varied here and the level of vendors, from beauty to catering, is so topnotch, that nearly any desire can be met."There are several contributing factors that have made the Valley a key wedding destination.
The setting is a leading factor. Like many Vermont areas, the majestic mountains, pastoral fields, roaring brooks and country charm provide a perfect matrimonial backdrop. Unlike many Vermont destinations, the venues in the Mad River Valley offer an authentic Vermont experience."We're fortunate that many of the older structures in this area weren't taken down to make way for multi-unit condominiums or large-scale spas," says Susan Roy, executive director of the local chamber and lifelong Vermonter. "Over the years, the local community understood the value of the old farmhouses and barns. Now so many of these fine structures have been lovingly restored and turned into inns and function sites.
They speak to the true Vermont Wedding experience that many are looking for." In addition to the collection of distinctive wedding sites, the valley is also home to a full complement of wedding service providers, such as photographers, florists, caterers, and bridal consultants. The interest seems to come from throughout the Eastern Seaboard, adds Roy. "Vermont appeals to the romantic, and the Mad River Valley is real Vermont Wedding place. Whether the couple wants a ceremony in an old covered bridge, a restored round barn, or on the top of a mountain, we're here to see that their dreams are met. And, because we're a destination resort, we actually have a great selection of accommodations, shops, restaurants and activities to occupy the wedding attendees."The Mad River Valley, home to ski resorts Sugarbush and Mad River Glen, offers visitors Historic Register villages, fine dining, quaint shops and four-season recreational opportunities that include hiking, biking, skiing, horseback riding, fishing and soaring.
